The method just not works for Windows 10, but with earlier versions of Windows like Windows 8.1/8 and Windows 7. Though, it may vary a bit. So, let acquaint ourselves with the method to convert Windows 10 PC into a Wi-Fi Hotspot.
Turn Windows 10 PC into a Wi-Fi Hotspot
Press Win+X key in combination to access the settings option. There, from the list of options displayed, select “Command Prompt (Admin)“.
Then, enter the following command, replacing the values for SSID and key with the network name and password you want: netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=AdHoc key=password
Next, run the following command to start the network: netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Switch to Start menu and search for “View network connections.”
Thereafter, right-click your main ethernet connection and choose “Properties.”
Under the “Sharing” tab, check the box with the following line of description “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection.”
Below the box you can find ‘choose the network connection that currently has internet access’. Chose it and click OK.
From now, new Wi-Fi network that’s connected to your home internet should be readily visible. It is particularly important to mention here that the Hotspot created will last so long the Windows machine that’s running the network is active. This method isn’t a complete replacement for router.
