How to Sync your Clipboard between your Android Device and Windows PC

The ability to sync your clipboard between your Android device and your PC is something that has long been sought out. People who constantly flip back and forth between their two devices might find themselves wanting to copy some text off of their smartphone to easily input it into their PC without having to send an email or just write it all out. Now, you can do all of that with a help of one simple app: Clipsync.

As long as your PC and Android device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, your clipboard will be synced in real time between your devices.

It’s worth noting that several apps accomplish this job, but Clipsync is one of the only good free options, with some options requiring things like a monthly subscription to get up and running. And that’s just no fun at all.

If you want an option that works across any network, though, look into PushBullet, which requires a subscription fee of about $3 per month to access the clipboard syncing feature. Here’s how to get Clipsync running on your devices.

Step 1: Install the App

Fire up your Android device and head over to the Google Play Store. There, you can download the Clipsync app.

Step 2: Set up the Windows App

You may have suspected this already, but you’ll have to install and configure the Windows Clipsync application as well to get it up and to run. So, download the latest version of the application to your Windows device via their website.

Follow the prompts to install the program onto your Windows device. Leave all values set to their defaults. There are no ads or trickery to worry about with this installation.

After installation, run the application from the Desktop shortcut. You may have to choose to allow it through your Windows Firewall, so do so.

You should be good to go from this point. If ever you want to close the application, right-click on the tray icon and then click Exit to close Clipsync.

Step 3: Set up the Android App

Now, you just need to set up the app on your Android device. All you have to do is run the application you should have already installed. Once inside, the app will automatically find the running server on your PC. All you have to do is tap the Power icon on the server(s) of your choice to enable syncing between devices.

At this point, anytime something is copied on one device, it will be synced immediately to the other device or devices set up with the service. All you have to do is use the “Paste” function or shortcut to access it.
