HMD Global, the current licensee of Nokia has now finally launched the Nokia 7.1 in India.
Being the company’s upper mid-range offering, the handset bears a Notched display in a premium glass sandwich design and a PureView Display with HDR10 support as its key highlights.
To recall, the Nokia 7.1 was first unveiled globally, at an event held in London, last month. It will succeed the popular Nokia 6.1 Plus that came earlier in August.
“We know a lot of our fans in India enjoy creating videos and watching content on their smartphones. That’s why it was important for us to bring both Zeiss optics and PureDisplay technology together in a versatile device that offers a superior content experience, regardless of whether you’re taking photos for your social media or watching the latest series on your favourite streaming service,” Ajey Mehta, Vice President and Country Head, India, HMD Global, said in his statement.
As for the specifications, the Nokia 7.1 sports a 5.84-inch Full-HD+ (1080×2280 pixels) IPS LCD panel with a 19:9 aspect ratio, thanks to the notch on top. It is Nokia’s first phone to feature PureDisplay screen technology with HDR10 support. Furthermore, the display touts Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Under the hood, the device gets powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC which is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The given slot for microSD card allows for further storage expansion up to 400GB.
For photography, the Nokia 7.1 gets a vertically stacked pair of Zeiss-branded dual cameras at the back. The setup comprises a 12-megapixel primary sensor f/1.8 aperture and autofocus, and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with fixed focus and f/2.4 aperture. Upfront, there’s an 8-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture for selfies.
On the software front, it runs the latest Android 9 Pie under Google’s Android One program meaning that it will get regular monthly security patches up to three years alongside timely Android updates. Fuelling up the phone is a 3,060mAh battery with 18W fast charging, claimed to charge 50 percent within 30 minutes.
Additional features include real-time SDR to HDR conversion using a 16-bit engine and bothie support. Lastly, the connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C, NFC and a 3.5mm headphone jack are given onboard.
Nokia 7.1 Price and Availability
The Nokia 7.1 is priced at Rs. 19,999 for the sole 4/64GB RAM and storage model in India. The phone will go on sale starting 7 December in gloss midnight blue and gloss steel colours. It’ll be available across all major online stores and offline retailers.
Airtel prepaid customers can enjoy 1TB of 4G data on eligible plans starting Rs 199 on the device. On the other hand, the postpaid customers will be benefited with additional 120GB data along with three months of Netflix subscription and one year of Amazon Prime subscription on plans starting Rs. 499.
Consumers using HDFC Bank Credit and Debit cards to buy the phone on EMI transactions carried out through Pinelabs terminals in certain offline stores are said to get an extra 10% cashback.
