Indeed, the Samsung Galaxy Fold has marked a new directional innovation in the smartphone industry. The handset is now up for pre-orders in the USA, and we already have a couple of unboxings and reviews over the internet. That said, a new report suggests the Galaxy Fold India launch to be held on May 7th.
Citing its sources, TheUnbiasedBlog said that the Samsung Galaxy Fold would launch in India on the 7th of May. In the meanwhile, other reports too suggested the launch of Galaxy Fold in May, increasing the plausibility of the former’s clue.
Lately, a separate report revealed that Samsung would also be launching its Galaxy A80 next month in the country. Considering that, it might be the case that both the launches are scheduled on the same day.
Samsung Galaxy Fold Specifications, Features
As evident, the Galaxy Fold has a folding design with two displays. The first display lies on the outside while the other reveals when you open the device.
That said, the outer display is a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED panel with an HD+ resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. On the other hand, the main display of the Galaxy Fold is a larger 7.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel with a QXGA+ (1536 x 2152p) resolution and 4.2:3 ratio. Samsung pronounces it as the Infinity Flex display.
Interestingly, the App Continuity feature present on the device lets users switch seamlessly between the outer and inner displays. Notably, the apps will automatically open right where you left off when you shift between the screens.
Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy Fold features a total of six cameras. The device gets three cameras at the rear, accompanied by two shooters up front and one on the cover (in fold state). Particularly, the rear module comprises of 16MP UltraWide (f/2.2) + 12MP Wide-Angle (f/1.5 – f/2.4) + 12MP Telephoto (f/2.4) setup. Whereas, the front flaunts a 10MP selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP depth sensor with f/1.9 aperture. The one on the cover is a 10MP f/2.2 unit, to be used for selfies and video calls while the phone is closed.
All of this is backed by dual batteries having a combined capacity of 4,380mAh. Also, there is support for fast wired charging and wireless charging.
Samsung Galaxy Fold Price in India (Expected)
Priced at $1980 in the USA, Samsung Galaxy Fold is indeed a luxurious smartphone. Now that it’s arriving in India, we can expect it to be priced upwards of Rs. 1,40,000 (as per the conversion rate).
Note that the Galaxy S10 costs $899 (roughly Rs. 62,400) in the US and Rs. 66,900 in India. Hence, there shouldn’t be much difference between the American and Indian price of the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Stay tuned for further updates.
