Successor to the earlier Fonepad, here we got hands-on with the new Asus Fonepad 7 (October 2013 edition). In this review, we have some really great and important aspect which should not be ignored if you are really looking out for a budget tablet in the price range of around 15K. Let’s get started!
The tablet has been designed to help you out with the way you are using the everyday technology. As we observed, that’s how Asus introduced the new Fonepad 7 Tablet in order to make your computing and mobility even more faster.
Talking about the display, this tablet has got a 7-inch Full HD display that will literally boost up your viewing experience. The Asus Fonepad 7 is powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2560 Dual Core Processor, which is running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. This makes the interface more user friendly, fluid and smooth.
It has a 5 MP primary camera and 1.2 secondary front facing camera. What surprises us the most is it has an excellent picture quality even at the 1.2 MP secondary camera. This helped us having crystal clear Google+ Hangout sessions.
It sports dual front speakers. Asus Fonepad 7 is designed to offer you an astonishing sound experience, and this is the reason why it has provided dual speakers on the front.
It has a fairly decent amount of storage capacity, which we think is more than enough if you are not willing to keep it as an intensive storage medium. It lets you carrying all your multimedia stuff. It has a 16GB of internal storage space which is further expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and 3G. So you can easily connect to the Internet from your home or on the go. it also has a support for USB OTG, Micro USB and Bluetooth v3, which allows you to share your multimedia data with other devices.
We even got to experience some really awesome bells and whistles. Asus Fonepad 7 also comes with Hall, Light and Proximity Sensor along with an e-compass, G-Sensor and a GPS too.
Coming to the most important part of this review, we had a very good experience with its battery quality. It allowed us to have around 24 hours of talktime on 3G. On paper It has 395 mAh battery and 28 hours of talktime on 3G and 840 hours of stand by time on 3G.
Talking about some good points we observed, Asus Fonepad 7 has an awesome build quality. It has a very fast and responsive touch support. It has a good mUSIC quality is good. Though it’s very loud, but we had no problem listening to its awesomeness.
Asus mini apps can nicely be played but mini videos didn’t play play all video formats. It has a very good call quality. Its 216 ppi pixel density does make it a good competitor for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.
After Nexus 7, Asus Fonepad 7 is the only tablet with such a great display. Some negative points, it’s quite wider to hold. Another thing observed was there’s no flash support to its camera. Overall, it’s simply best.
